As the county seat of Montgomery County, Dayton is Ohio’s “Gem City”. With a population just over one hundred and fifty thousand it is far from the largest Ohio city; and yet, it has one of the best healthcare systems in the state. Dayton is also a city known for its historic and beautiful architecture. Just like many other Ohio cities, Dayton's population is beautifully diverse. Dayton Health Problems
Nearly twenty-two percent of Dayton’s population is over the age of fifty-five requiring large amounts of the Ohio health insurance resources as well as Ohio‘s Medicare resources. Dayton deals with many of the same health problems that affect the state of Ohio as a whole. Dayton Medical Services
Dayton, OH has one of the largest healthcare systems in Ohio. There are eighteen hospitals serving the Dayton area; four of these are research hospitals. Dayton is also home to two different heart specialty hospitals: Dayton Heart Hospital and The Dayton Heart Center. Other specialty centers include family birthing centers, The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, who has been working to give the children of the community and surrounding areas specialized care, The Orthopedic Center for Spinal and Pediatric Care, and specialty substance abuse centers. All of these centers and more are working toward making the Ohio health insurance and healthcare systems strong. Dayton also offers a few different programs offering help to the uninsured and underinsured. Reach Out and Premier Community Health both work to provide affordable healthcare in the Dayton area. Premier Community Health also has been working to fight cancer, diabetes, and heart disease in eight different counties across the state.
